Working Principle

Inside the TYN816 is a four-layer semiconductor structure (PNPN) with three pins:

  • A (Anode)
  • K (Cathode)
  • G (Gate)

It is essentially a controlled switch that will only conduct when certain conditions are met.

TYN816 adopts a unidirectional conduction structure. Its working principle is based on the on-off control of the PNPN structure. The device is turned on by an external gate trigger current and is used to control high current loads.
