The bta08-800C is a 8A, 800V triac designed for AC switching applications. It is widely used in motor control, lighting dimmers, heating systems, and other power regulation circuits.Its insulated tab package ensures electrical isolation and safety in compact designs.

Structure and Working Principle

1.Internal Structure

BTA08-800C adopts NPNPN five-layer structure with three electrodes:

  • Main terminal 1 (MT1): usually connected to the load side
  • Main terminal 2 (MT2): usually connected to the power supply side
  • Gate (G): control electrode, used to trigger the device to turn on

2.Working Principle

As a bidirectional thyristor, BTA08-800C has the following characteristics:

  • It can be triggered to conduct in both the positive and negative half cycles of the AC power
  • Once triggered to conduct, it will remain on even if the gate signal is removed
  • It will only turn off when the current is lower than the holding current (IH)
