Overview
eSATA is a new data interface technology, an extension of the traditional SATA interface, used to connect external rather than internal SATA devices. Theoretically, the eSATA interface can reach a transmission rate of 3Gbps, but in practical applications, due to the constraints of the internal transmission rate of the hard disk and the motherboard, the actual data transmission may be between 1.5Gbps and 3Gbps, but still higher than the transmission rate of IEEE 1394 and USB2.0. As an external connection standard, eSATA not only supports hot plugging, but also has a fast transmission speed, so it must meet all the requirements in terms of strength, anti-electromagnetic interference, and cable flexibility. How to avoid electrostatic overvoltage damage caused by frequent plugging and unplugging of cables and ensure stable and reliable operation of products is an issue that engineers urgently need to deal with.
