SD103CW Description

SD103CW is a surface mount Schottky barrier diode. It is a high performance small signal rectifier device. The diode adopts SOD-123 package and is widely used in various electronic circuits for high frequency rectification, signal detection and power supply protection.

Technical Parameters

  • Maximum reverse voltage (VRRM): 20V
  • Average forward rectified current (IFM): 350mA
  • Peak forward surge current (IFSM): 2A
  • Forward voltage drop (VF): Typical 0.37V (at IF=20mA)
  • Reverse leakage current (IR): Maximum 5μA (at VR=30V)
  • Junction capacitance (Cj): Typical 50pF (at VR=0V, f=1MHz)
  • Operating temperature range: -50°C to +150°C

Working Principle

  • Fast switching characteristics: Since Schottky diodes are majority carrier devices and do not have the storage effect of minority carriers, the switching speed is extremely fast, and the reverse recovery time (trr) is usually in the nanosecond level.
  • Low forward voltage drop: The barrier height of the Schottky contact is lower than that of the PN junction, which makes the forward voltage drop lower at the same current and improves the circuit efficiency.
  • Temperature characteristics: The forward voltage drop has a negative temperature coefficient, which helps prevent thermal runaway.

Applications

  • High frequency rectification: used for output rectification in switching power supplies and DC-DC converters
  • Polarity protection: prevents reverse connection of power supply from damaging sensitive circuits
  • Signal demodulation: used for detection in RF and communication circuits
  • Logic circuits: used as clamping diodes to prevent overvoltage
