SMBJ12A is a high-performance uni-directional transient voltage suppression diode with a compact SMB package and 600W peak pulse power. It can respond quickly when voltage transients occur, effectively protecting electronic equipment from interference such as lightning strikes and inductive load switching.It is suitable for a variety of application scenarios such as communications, power supplies, and electronic control systems.

Working Principle

  • Normal state
    When the circuit voltage is lower than the reverse cutoff voltage (12V) of SMBJ12A, the device is in high impedance state (cutoff state), which has almost no effect on the circuit.
  • Transient voltage trigger
    When the voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage (14.7V) of SMBJ58A, the device quickly enters the low impedance state (avalanche breakdown), discharges the excess energy to the ground through itself, and clamps the voltage below the clamping voltage (19.9V)
