SMBJ30CA is a bidirectional TVS diode in SMB package. Its main function is to quickly conduct and clamp the overvoltage within a safe range when the circuit is impacted by transient overvoltage (such as ESD, lightning strike, inductive load switching, etc.), thereby effectively protecting downstream sensitive electronic components from damage. Its bidirectional symmetrical structure is suitable for AC or bipolar signal environments, and its 30V operating voltage range makes it widely used in 24V power supply systems, communication interfaces, power control lines and other occasions that require anti-interference protection. When encountering a surge, the device can respond within nanoseconds and provide stable and reliable overvoltage protection. Working Principle

SMBJ30CA uses silicon avalanche technology. When a transient pulse exceeding its breakdown voltage appears in the circuit, the device will quickly change from a high impedance state to a low impedance state, shunting the overvoltage energy to the ground. The bidirectional model can suppress transient voltages in both positive and negative directions, while the unidirectional model can only suppress transients in one direction.
