SD Card

Summary
SD card interfaces are widely used in various consumer electronics, industrial control equipment, and automotive electronics. Their structure and usage scenarios mean they also face a high risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD). Inserting or removing SD cards during system operation can cause voltage surges or static electricity buildup, leading to contact discharge or surges. However, the SD interface lacks isolation or buffering, and its pins are often directly connected to the main control SoC, FPGA, or MCU. Once subjected to electrostatic shock, the main control pins are easily damaged or aged instantly.
